I'm into mostly all styles prog, rock, alter so many to name but yeah a good suggestion for a bass right now I got 500 for a bass what I'm using right now is an Ibanez GIO I bought off a friend for 50 bucks haha and for an amp im using my Fender Hot Rod...for right now.
I was also wondering about suggestions
I like using my fingers but I want to know more about techniques is what I'm worried about I already know theory but I want to find sites with good info on thumbing, slap and pop, tapping and the usual business.

i'm relatively new to bass (been playing roughly 1 1/2-2 years) but here's my two cents of advice:
- learn (some) jazz. you don't need to do a ton, but it really helps you get a solid beginning and incorporates a good amount of theory.
- when first learning learn by playing with your fingers... then move to a pick when you want to. it's a lot harder to learn pick first then go to fingers.
- try to find someone to play with... bass can get a bit boring if you're learning songs by yourself-- having a friend who's learning guitar can make it more fun for the both of you. also teaches you to get a steady beat...
hope that helped!

Hey Paragons7
I notice you said you've just pick up the bass guitar lol. A great instrument just really underrated. I haven't been playing that long my self, getting better though. There's a pretty cool website I have come across though. Has a few decent lessons on there and all free, looks like it could be new I'm guessing the link is
Howtoplaybass
So what bass have you got the?

Hey
Hey Daedra Lord. I assure you my last post was not spam, even though this one might sound spam it isn't, but the website has changed to I know this because the old site says so, but yeah it has. I would update my last post but it will not let me.

sometimes the website is weird about letting you edit posts.
the reason i say it sounded like spam is because it had all the signs (link to a website, praise for said website, and very few other posts by your account.)
but ill take your word for it.

Thank you for updating me. Aye I know there is a lot of spam going around in forums but I guess the easiest way is to put a link in your significant as I have seen a few people do this.
I know I haven't posted any more post but I haven't had time at the moment. I will do though

Practice as much as you can.
Get lessons from a professional, once a week will be fine
Learning basslines from the songs you like is a great start.

Fender, Dean, Cort, Peavey, Carvin, Musicman. But shop around, you might find a real good deal on a used one too. While you are learning to read Music, learn TAB, that will get you playing faster. Learn your L- shape chords and Triads, 3rds 5ths and octaves.
