The most extensive mods you've done to your guitar?

I'm curious as to how much folks change about their guitars. I'm always fiddling around with my stuff (with the exception of my gibby). I like to keep working on them until I have something that is very personal to me. Who else here is like that?

I had an old telecaster copy that I put some Texas Tele pickups in and liked it so much that I got an American Telecaster to put the pickups in.

So new Pickups and new guitar, does that count as a mod

I try not to modify my guitars though I do get the bug every now and again.

I recently added a shim to the saddle of my acoustic guitar.

I like it.

I also stripped all the paint off a strat copy that i have though I havnt finished it. I generally dont like strats.

Im thinking about getting a bone saddle for my acoustic but i'm not really sure about it.

I just avoid mods because I've seen too many guitars ruined by unnecessary mods.

Pedals are another thing.

The only thing I've done is put in new pickups. Aside from pickups, paint or replacing the bridge, I really dunno how far mods to a guitar can go.

I just finished modding my 2004 Fender strat. The only thing left from the original guitar is the body.

I really have fun fitting something to my personal specs. Makes it feel like I really own the guitar.

RS guitarworks pots and sheptone BK pickups went into my Tokai

A brass floyd block and dimarzio evolutions went into my C66

And for my DC135, I enlarged the neck pickup single coil route to accomodate a humbucker which (as of now) is the neck pickup that came with my tokai and the bridge pickup is a bareknuckle nailbomb. I also added a 3 way pickup selector and CTS pots.

pick-guard, pick-ups, filed the end's of the frets(they were scraping my hand)
black screws & knobs, I put a block of wood to stop the tremolo bar from being
pulled up that way the guitar doesn't go out of tune when I break a string.
I never use the thing any way and I don't have a roadie to hand me a fresh
guitar.

Pony I checked out your last song, I liked it!

Before i got my first left handed guitar, the first guitar i got was a westone thunder 1 Made in japan 1982. The day i received the guitar i tried to restring it LH. The brass nut had to be filed down to accomodate the bass strings and the tone and volume control knobs had to go, as i couldnt strum without disturbing them! I also replaced the humbucker with a dimarzio pick up!. ha, ive still got it,and ive still got the removed parts. its absolutely solid.
